Tall Tales

It had been a few days since the last time I talked to The Government Assistant.  I didn’t fully believe he was on a “secret mission” for the government, but I didn’t have any concrete proof yet so I was going to go with his story until something came up. Well, something came up that Thursday at work.

The Government, The Assistant…Maybe a Lie

The last time I seen The Government Assistant he offered to help me redo my business plan. I emailed him my original business plan so he could look over it and confirm he could and wanted to help. The day after I emailed him my business plan he came into my job to confirm face to face that he wanted to help me. He said, “We can meet anytime you are available?”  I said, “I’m available after 4PM today.” He said,” I’m on my way to an important meeting with some officials, we can do it Friday.” I said, “Okay.”

Ms. Security

I was eating lunch at Subway when I overheard a conversation amongst two friends. One of the friends (I’ll just call her Ms. Security) was explaining to her other friend how she went through her boyfriend’s cell phone and saw text messages and phone calls to and from another woman. The second she said that I was hoping she didn’t call this particular woman she saw in her boyfriend’s phone but of course she did!

Assisting The Government

I walked into Chili’s and The Government Assistant was sitting at the bar watching the highlights from NBA Playoffs. He said, “The way you look today, you were definitely worth the wait.” I laughed and said, “I don’t feel like I look that good.” He said, “Why?” I said, “Well, karma got me this weekend.” He said, “Oh no, what happened?” I said, “Well, I like to use white washcloths for my face towels and I instead of going to Wal-Mart I decided to take two…two…just two of the Sheraton’s white washcloths. I get home and unpack my bag and I realized I left my flat iron in Tampa at the hotel. So for taking TWO white washcloths that I could have purchased from Wal-Mart for like $1.50 I leave my $65 flat iron. That means I had to do my hair with a curling iron. That is karma at its best.” He laughed at my story.

The International Wine and Cheese Party

The International Player was hosting an all-white, wine and cheese party at the Peabody Hotel. He texted me and said he had an extra room I could stay in if I wanted. After reading the text I called and said, “Is it an extra room or your room?” He laughed and said, “An extra room! A couple of my friends missed their flight and it was too late to cancel the room. So, you can stay…if you want.” I said, “Okay, that’s cool.”

The Government Assistant

The Government Assistant has come into my job a few times. We always talked, but I never thought he was interested in me. This random Wednesday he walks into my job and said, “I’m taking you out this week.” I laughed and said, “Well, do I get to pick the day?” He said, “Yeah…today.” I laughed again and said, “I’m thinking today.”

Frenemies

I always hated the term “frenemies” it’s either you’re my friend or you’re my enemy. There is no combining the two. I actually think an enemy is better than a “frenemy” because at least you know your enemies don’t like you, so you can avoid them. That “frenemy” will come to your house, listen to your problems, and act like everything is cool while they secretly plot against you.

The International Hotel

I haven’t saw or heard from the International Player since the day I found out that he had seven kids with three different women outside of his marriage. We usually see each other in the same shopping plaza, but it had been awhile since I’ve been there. So I was shocked when he called me on a Monday night while I was watching Dancing with the Stars.

Daddy Dearest

Shantara and I always jokingly said, “Black people don’t like their fathers.” This comment came after we noticed how many of our friends never really said anything positive about their biological fathers or never mentioned them at all. As a young girl being raised by a strong female is needed, but I’m starting to think being raised by a strong father is also needed as well.
