Good Thoughts, Bad Thoughts, No More Thoughts

While watching Eat, Pray, Love one of the characters named Richard told Julia Robert’s character Elizabeth Gilbert, “Groceries” (Richard’s nickname for Gilbert), you need to learn how to select your thoughts just the same way you select what clothes you’re gonna wear every day. This is a power you can cultivate. If you want to control things in your life so bad, work on the mind because if you can’t learn to master your thinking, you’re in deep trouble forever.”

Mr. I Called Off My Engagement

I stopped by CVS to pick up some toiletries. I was all summer decked out in my green ruffle dress; white 2/3 sleeves jacket and multi-color sandals from Bakers. I was walking the aisles of CVS when I came across the makeup aisle. I usually only wear Mac but Mac know they kind of expensive so I was checking the prices of Cover Girl’s True blend foundation. I always hated over the counter foundation because I find it impossible to get a color that matches my complexion perfectly. It always seems like when I go into Macy’s or Dillard’s makeup counter the makeup artist pulls out one foundation and it is usually the perfect choice. I opened a bottle of the Cover Girl’s True Blend foundation to pour a little on my hand so I could see if the color was even close when I poured about half the bottle on my hand. “Oh my gosh!” I thought.

The Vixen (Part II)

I was all into the first game of Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls series when I received a text message from a Miami area code that said, “Do your friends do bail bonds in Miami?” I said, “Who is this?” It was a KP’s friend Joe who needed to get in contact with a bail bonds company. I said, “Yes, he owns a billion bail bonds offices in the state of Florida. Who needs him?” Joe said,”KP. He and The Vixen got into it again. She broke his phone and threw his keys over the gate at her complex. Those fools were yelling and scuffling outside the condo. I guess one of the neighbors called the police and they took KP to jail. You know he was still on probation from last year so when they ran his license he already knew they were taking him in.” I said, “He is stupid. So handing her the deeds to a condo wasn’t good enough? Why would he still fool up with her?” Joe said, “I don’t know, but she called me about ten minutes ago asking if I had talked to him?” I said, “Please don’t entertain her.”

The Vixen

A year ago I was in Miami visiting an old college friend named KP. KP and I have been friends for a few years and his life is always drama-filled. I always tell him he likes drama but he insists that drama likes him. Last year when I went to visit him in Miami he told me about his new conquest a woman named The Vixen. He gave me her background history and instantly I thought something was shady about her but KP is one of those people who have to learn on their own.

The Megaphone

I decided I was going to take a break from dating after the fiasco with The Government Assistant. I went to T.G.I Fridays alone to eat dinner and watch the NBA Playoffs. I walked around the bar area a few times to find the perfect seat so I could watch the Miami Heat attempt to close out the series against the Boston Celtics.

An International Sighting

I sat outside of Peach Valley eating my Western Omelet and searching the Interneton a Sunday morning. I always loved people watching and the plaza was filled with adorable families eating brunch after church. I saw this gorgeous petite woman in a floral print A-line dress and peep toe nude pumps standing next to her two adorable boys dressed in polo shirts and khakis. She reminded me of Charlotte York from Sex and the City.

“Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number”

I was passing Blue Martini when I realized that it was 6PM. It had been a while since I went to Blue Martini and there is no better time to be at Blue Martini than during their happy hour.  The place becomes filled with professional adults between the ages 25-40. I thought about calling somebody to meet me there but I figured about time whoever gets there the happy hour rush will be over.

Time Heals All Wounds…or Does It?

I met Lauren in 2007. She started dating one of my good friends/neighbors and instantly our entire building liked her. Trust me for every individual in our apartment building to agree that we all liked one person was unheard of up until we met Lauren. I instantly took to Lauren because she was genuine, sweet, funny, and considerate. Since we all moved from Tallahassee it’s been hard keeping up with everybody but it was becoming embarrassing to tell people I hadn’t saw Lauren in person in over six months seeing as though I pass her apartment complex at least five times a week. So we decided to meet for lunch at Elephant Bar to catch up.

A lie, the truth, and Osama Bin Laden?

The day after I used my boss’ cell phone to call The Government Assistant I received a text from him that read, “What’s going on?” I replied, “Chilling…what’s up with you?” He replied, “Just got back. You work today?” I replied, “You got back today? And no I’m not at work.” He replied, “Yea, for real!” I replied, “Oh okay.”
