…And They Lived Happily Ever After

I said, “And then they lived happily ever after…” My friend said, “What do you mean by that?” I said, “Exactly what I said. At the end of the day more than most women just want that. To find prince charming and live happily.” He said, “Yeah, you about right.” I said, “It proves itself over and over again. After watching Whitney Houston’s last Oprah interview and then watching what Patricia Houston said in the interview with Oprah last night it’s obvious Whitney wanted to be a mother, happily in love, and married. And she’s not the only woman to want that or feel that way. Hell, I look at J.Lo. I love her because she loves like she never loved before. Well, at least that’s comes across in the  pictures the media decides to show us. Even when I watched her “Behind the Music” episode on VH1 her family talked about how no matter what happened she always wanted her own family and love. Janet Jackson (I love her) had two secret marriages on us. I mean we are talking about women who are gorgeous, smart, and rich…they still just wanted the title as loving wife.”

Karma!

One of my undergrad classmates said, “Marriage is overrated. It’s the same drama except with a ring.”  I said, “I’ve heard marriage wasn’t easy.” She said, “But I didn’t think it would be this tough.” I said, “What’s going on now?” She said, “You know he had a baby on me.”  I said, “The baby should be like one now…right?” She said, “She’s 10 months, but why is he still sleeping with his baby mom?” I said, “How you know?” She said, “I know! Trust me! People don’t take marriage seriously.” I rolled my eyes and said, “Oh really?”

Mr.Divorce

“Long time no hear…” I said to my friend Mr. Divorce. He said, “I’ve been busy with projects for my company.” I said, “Oh okay. How’s Nevada treating you?” He said, “Like I’m a star. You were right…” I said, “About what?” Mr. Divorce said, “My ex-wife. She didn’t send my boys.” I said, “Oh that was a no brainer. Those kids are her bread and butter. Why would she give that up?” He said, “It’s mind boggling to me that should would call me and say she can’t afford them and they would be better off with me, but I would continue with the child support payments.” I said, “Hell, it’s mind boggling to me also. I guess she thought you forgot about that money, seeing as though it comes out your check automatically.” He laughed and said, “Do you know how much money come out my check…hell nah I didn’t forget.”

Mr. I Called Off My Engagement

I stopped by CVS to pick up some toiletries. I was all summer decked out in my green ruffle dress; white 2/3 sleeves jacket and multi-color sandals from Bakers. I was walking the aisles of CVS when I came across the makeup aisle. I usually only wear Mac but Mac know they kind of expensive so I was checking the prices of Cover Girl’s True blend foundation. I always hated over the counter foundation because I find it impossible to get a color that matches my complexion perfectly. It always seems like when I go into Macy’s or Dillard’s makeup counter the makeup artist pulls out one foundation and it is usually the perfect choice. I opened a bottle of the Cover Girl’s True Blend foundation to pour a little on my hand so I could see if the color was even close when I poured about half the bottle on my hand. “Oh my gosh!” I thought.

An International Sighting

I sat outside of Peach Valley eating my Western Omelet and searching the Interneton a Sunday morning. I always loved people watching and the plaza was filled with adorable families eating brunch after church. I saw this gorgeous petite woman in a floral print A-line dress and peep toe nude pumps standing next to her two adorable boys dressed in polo shirts and khakis. She reminded me of Charlotte York from Sex and the City.

The International Hotel

I haven’t saw or heard from the International Player since the day I found out that he had seven kids with three different women outside of his marriage. We usually see each other in the same shopping plaza, but it had been awhile since I’ve been there. So I was shocked when he called me on a Monday night while I was watching Dancing with the Stars.

The Marrying Kind

Anyone who knows me well, and I mean well, knows that marriage was always on my radar. I can’t help it! I remember freshman year of undergrad, I told Angie and Shantara I wanted to be married by 23. I don’t know why I had a secret obsession with getting married. One of my fears was being the “single” friend. All of my friends get married, doing family things, and I’m still at happy hour with a freakum dress on. The second fear was just maybe I’m not the marrying kind. The guy will date me, says he loves me, we will spend holidays together, but he would never make it official and the second we break up he would go off and marry a girl within the next 6 months or so.(So,what would that say about me?) The third fear, I’ll be an old maid with a lot of cats and there is nothing more fearful than being the old mean lady who reeks of cat urine.

Married, but Separated

When is it okay to date a man who is separated? Even though a person is separated they are still legally married. I met “I’m married, but separated” at Publix. I was in line behind him with one item, some Dran-O. He had a cart full of groceries. He said I could get in front of him and I took quick glance at his ring finger and NO ring! I was pleased, but then I looked in his cart, he had a bunch of family value groceries. You know the extra-large boxes of chips and snacks and other items that people buy when they have more than one kid. He also had Yoplait’s Strawberry Yogurt and mini bagels. That is something a woman would eat in the morning.
